Kansas City Deck with Over-Hang Before / After

This is a deck job we did for Richard and Joe. It was a new deck on their home which was an 8’x20’ with a over hang over the deck with a shingle roof to match there existing color. This deck was built with all pressure treated yellow wood.  At the beginning of the week, we had some weather delay and the homeowners did not think we would complete the deck in the timely manner we gave them on there project which was one week.

The next day when we showed up, they were a little worried. By the middle of the week. they were very impressed with the amount of work that had been done in just a couple days.

In the process of building this deck, we had to open the siding to put the deck ledger board in and then build out from there. The structure was built with 2×10 joist. We were able to build the frame of the deck and assemble the floor in the first day.  The flooring was 2x6x20. The second day we dug all the piers 36” deep and installed concrete to hold the deck before the overhand was built.  On the third day we built the over hang and installed all the roofing witch included 4×8 sheeting, roofing felt and shingles.  The fourth day, I was able to install all the handrails, which consisted of 2×4 top and bottoms with 2×6 tops and 2×2 balusters.  I was also able to build the stairs of the deck to complete the look.

This new deck covered their exterior hose faucet, so we extended the plumbing and installed a faucet on the outside of the deck for convenience. Everything on the deck went very smoothly and the homeowner was very pleased with the project.

Richard and Joe were very kind and fun to work with on their new addition.
